Massachusetts Association of Agricultural Commissions

At the March 2010 statewide Massachusetts Agricultural Commissions Conference, AgCom members in attendance voted unanimously to organize the Massachusetts Association of Agricultural Commissions.

The Association will:

  • promote agriculture and agricultural activities in Massachusetts primarily through guidance, encouragement, and critical support for municipal Agricultural Commissions

  • help AgComs to fulfill their potential as leaders in their communities through exercise of their duties.

  • provide comprehensive education and training for AgCom members who, as local officials serving without compensation, have broad mandates under state and local laws.

  • build support for agriculture in the community through effective relations with federal and state agencies, appointing officials, the courts, other non-profits, and the general public.

  • work toward strong, relevant, science-based laws, regulations, policies, and court decisions in areas that concern agriculture
